About

Shannon Consulting LLC was borne from the experiences of Ken Shannon, AICP over a 26 year career in private and government service to the public. This is also based upon over 31 years of service to our country in the military. These experiences are influential in the work ethic and value to the customer that is provided by Shannon Consulting LLC.

Previous experiences include the following working at a small engineering firm doing planning, traffic, and environmental for development in the panhandle of Florida. This was followed by work at a County Planning Department as a Planning Technician and eventually Planning Manager reviewing land use plans, scenic corridor reviews, Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Plan updates, and updating the transportation impact analysis plan. Recently serving in a State Government Department of Transportation with experience in project management, funding, traffic engineering, and maintenance. The military experience adding to these experience in both active and reserve includes operating a permitted hazardous waste transportation and disposal operation, transportation coordination by ocean and land across continents, and global container management.

VDOT Work Zone classes conducted at your location or a centralized location in Williamsburg to meet your needs. These classes are conducted to VDOT standards and a certification from VDOT will be sent to you upon completion of the course and passing score on the test. Teaching credentials are completion of the VDOT Traffic Control Training Instructor and Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Work Zone Training, ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor, and two years’ experience in training these courses along with nine years’ experience with VDOT.
